Meet Your Doula!
Hi, I’m Lynetta Walker, the heart and soul behind Nu Journey Doula Care and I am honored to be part of your journey. Before stepping into the world of birth work, I spent thirteen years as a nurse, providing compassionate care in some of life’s most critical moments. I loved my role, but something was always calling me toward a deeper connection with families-especially during the life-changing experience of childbirth.
That calling became even louder through my own journey in motherhood. My births were as transformative as they were challenging, teaching me lessons about resilience, the importance of support, and the power of being truly heard. There were moments where I felt empowered and others where I felt unseen. Those experiences lit a fire in me to ensure that no one walks their birthing journey feeling unsupported or alone.
Becoming a doula allowed me to blend my medical knowledge with my passion for birth advocacy and personalized care. I specialize in supporting VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) journeys and championing for Black maternal health, creating a safe space for birthing people to feel confident, informed, and empowered.
Every birth story is unique, and my goal is to honor yours by providing the guidance, care, and understanding you deserve. It’s not just about the destination - it’s about the journey, and I’m here to walk it with you.

FAQ’s
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person before, during, and shortly after childbirth. Unlike medical staff, doulas do not perform clinical tasks but focus on creating a positive birth experience through guidance and comfort. Doulas provide evidence based, unbiased education to help you understand your options and make informed decisions to support the birth experience you want.
How does a doula differ from a midwife or doctor?
Midwives and doctors are responsible for the medical aspects of your pregnancy and birth, while a doula offers non-medical support. Doulas focus on emotional care, pain management techniques, advocacy, and helping you make informed decisions, while midwives and doctors oversee the health of you and your baby.
When should I hire a doula?
It’s best to hire a doula early in your pregnancy, around the second trimester, to allow time for prenatal visits and preparation. However, I can also offer support later in pregnancy if needed.
Will a doula replace my partner during birth?
Absolutely not! A doula complements your partner’s support, helping them feel more confident in their role I provide both of you with guidance and reassurance, so your partner can be as involved as they’d like while also having support for themselves.
Does a doula support specific types of births?
I support all types of births, whether it’s a natural birth, a birth with pain medication, a C-Section, or a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). My role is to support your birth preferences and ensure you feel empowered and informed, no matter how your labor unfolds.
What I have a C-Section? Will a doula still be helpful?
Yes! A doula can still offer emotional and informational support during a c-section. I can help you and your partner prepare for the procedure, stay by your side in the operating room if allowed, and provide postpartum care to ensure a smooth recovery and transition.
What happens if my labor is very long?
As your doula, I provide continuous support for the entirety of your labor, no matter how long it takes. I will stay with you and help you through each stage, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! Payment options and plans will be discussed during your free consultation. All balances must be paid in full by 36 weeks
